1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how IMC, Inc. and its affiliates ("IMC," "we," "us," or "our") use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our websites (including imc.ad and any subdomains) and through our advertising technology platform. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which provides further detail on how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
By continuing to use our websites, you consent to the use of cookies as described in this policy, except where your consent is required and has not been provided (e.g., for non-essential cookies in the EEA/UK). You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the methods described in Section 8 below.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and supply information to website operators. Similar technologies include:
- Pixel tags (also known as web beacons or clear GIFs): Tiny transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to track page views, email opens, and other interactions.
- Local storage: Browser-based storage mechanisms (such as HTML5 localStorage and sessionStorage) that allow websites to store data on your device.
- Device fingerprinting: Techniques that collect information about your device configuration (such as browser type, screen resolution, installed plugins, and time zone) to create a unique identifier.
- SDKs (Software Development Kits): Code embedded in mobile applications that functions similarly to cookies in a mobile app environment.
- ETags and cache-based tracking: HTTP cache mechanisms that can be used to store identifiers on your device.
Throughout this policy, we use the term "cookies" to refer to all of these technologies collectively, unless otherwise specified.
3. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for the following general purposes:
- To ensure our websites function properly and securely;
- To remember your preferences and settings;
- To understand how visitors use our websites and to improve our services;
- To deliver, target, and measure the effectiveness of advertising;
- To detect and prevent fraud and invalid traffic;
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Types of Cookies We Use
We categorize the cookies used on our websites as follows:
4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the operation of our websites. They enable core functionality such as security, network management, and account access. You cannot opt out of these cookies because the websites cannot function properly without them. Examples include session cookies that maintain your login state and cookies that remember your cookie consent preferences.
4.2 Performance and Analytics Cookies
These cookies collect information about how visitors use our websites, such as which pages are visited most often, how visitors navigate between pages, and whether visitors encounter error messages. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. We use this information to improve how our websites work and to understand user behavior. We may use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics for this purpose.
4.3 Functionality Cookies
These cookies allow our websites to remember choices you make (such as your language preference, region, or display settings) and provide enhanced, more personalized features. They may also be used to provide services you have requested, such as watching a video or commenting on a blog post. The information these cookies collect may be anonymized and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.
4.4 Targeting and Advertising Cookies
These cookies are used to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and to help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organizations such as advertisers. These cookies may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other websites.
5. Third-Party Cookies
In addition to our own cookies, we may also use various third-party cookies to report usage statistics, deliver advertisements, and so on. These third-party cookies are governed by the respective privacy policies of the third parties. Key third-party services we use include:
- Google Analytics: For website traffic analysis and reporting.
- Google Tag Manager: For managing website tags and tracking scripts.
- HubSpot: For marketing automation, lead tracking, and CRM integration.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: For conversion tracking and audience building for LinkedIn advertising.
- Meta Pixel: For conversion tracking and audience building for Meta advertising.
- Intercom: For customer support chat and messaging.
We regularly review the third-party services we use and their cookie practices. For the most current list of third-party cookies on our websites, please use the cookie management tool available on our websites.
6. Advertising and Tracking Cookies in Our Platform
As an advertising technology company, IMC's platform uses cookies and similar technologies to facilitate programmatic advertising on our clients' (publishers') digital properties. These cookies are used for:
- Identifying unique users and devices for ad serving and frequency capping;
- Facilitating real-time bidding (RTB) and header bidding auctions;
- Delivering targeted advertisements based on user interests and behavior;
- Measuring ad impressions, clicks, conversions, and other campaign metrics;
- Detecting and preventing ad fraud and invalid traffic;
- Syncing user identifiers across advertising partners (cookie syncing);
- Providing attribution and cross-device tracking capabilities.
These platform cookies are placed on the digital properties of our publisher clients, not on imc.ad itself. The use of these cookies is governed by the privacy policies and consent mechanisms of the respective publisher websites and apps. Publishers using IMC's platform are contractually required to obtain appropriate consent from their users before enabling advertising cookies.
7. Cookie Duration
Cookies can be either "session" cookies or "persistent" cookies:
- Session cookies: These are temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser. They are used to maintain your session while you navigate our websites.
- Persistent cookies: These cookies remain on your device for a set period of time or until you delete them. They are used to remember your preferences and actions across multiple visits.
Our advertising platform cookies typically have a maximum lifespan of 13 months from the date they are set or last updated, in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory guidance. Website analytics cookies are retained for up to 26 months.
8. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for managing cookies:
8.1 Cookie Consent Tool
When you first visit our websites, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of our websites.
8.2 Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically set your browser to block all cookies, accept all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Please note that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of our websites and other websites you visit. For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, please visit:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions
8.3 Opt-Out of Interest-Based Advertising
You can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies through the following industry tools:
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA): optout.aboutads.info
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): optout.networkadvertising.org
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA): youronlinechoices.eu
8.4 Mobile Device Settings
On mobile devices, you can manage advertising identifiers through your device settings. On iOS, go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking. On Android, go to Settings > Google > Ads. You can also reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized advertising through these settings.
9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
IMC honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information under applicable U.S. state privacy laws. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information associated with that browser.
Regarding the Do Not Track (DNT) browser signal, there is currently no industry-wide standard for how companies should respond to DNT signals. As a result, our websites do not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can use the other methods described in this section to manage your privacy preferences.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as through a cookie consent banner or email notification). We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
